Space Lettuce

Space Lettuce is a food and planting item that can be found as loose loot or recovered by salvaging Space Lettuce at a Repair and Salvage Station. It is one of the few garden crops that can be harvested repeatedly without being replanted, making it especially useful for steady food production once a garden is established.

It can be found in several late-game and mid-game areas, including Cascade Laboratories, the Security Sector, and the Hydroplant. In Cascade Laboratories, one copy is found in an Ordo cell on the 5th floor, which is only accessible after resetting the security system, and another can be obtained in one of the cells around the elevator after disabling the turrets in the Control Center. In the Security Sector, it appears under a metal shelf inside one of the warehouses, and also on the upper floor of Storage Unit C, in the first storage room on the left after the gate. In the Hydroplant, it can be found inside a dumpster near the Hydroplant Building, outside the building near some containers, and in the broken tower near the bot, under rubble at the top behind a box. Another Hydroplant spawn is at the top of a watchtower on the bridge with Defense Robots, which requires a Keypad Hacker (Tier 5) to reach.

Space Lettuce can be planted in a Garden Plot to grow more Space Lettuce. Once planted, it does not need to be replanted after harvesting; instead, harvesting resets the crop to a 5/5 growth stage, so it only needs to grow through one more cycle rather than starting over from seed.

• Best used as a renewable crop for gardens, since a single planting continues producing harvests.
• Salvaging it at a Repair and Salvage Station provides another way to obtain the item if needed for planting or other use.
• The Hydroplant watchtower pickup is gated behind a Tier 5 Keypad Hacker, so it is one of the more restricted locations for obtaining it.
• If you find one early, planting it can turn it into a long-term source of food without consuming additional copies.
