Buffer chest

The buffer chest is a logistics chest used to gather items into a shared stockpile and then distribute them where needed. It is especially useful as a central supply point for the player, or as a more localized supply for construction, letting multiple requester points draw from the same inventory instead of duplicating supplies everywhere.

In practice, buffer chests work well when you want a nearby cache of construction materials that can also support player logistics. They are commonly placed so that both the player and logistic network can benefit from the same stored items. This makes them useful in bases where building materials need to be kept close at hand without spreading them across many separate chests.
