Campfire

Campfire is a placeable object that creates a light source and, when lit, grants the nearby player the Campfire buff. That buff reduces mob spawns by 50% and increases out-of-combat health regeneration by 2, making the campfire useful both as an early survival tool and as a small base-support structure.

A lit campfire consumes fuel from its 2-slot inventory, so it must be kept supplied in order to stay active. Because of that fuel requirement, it functions as a maintained utility object rather than a permanent passive upgrade. Players generally place it where they plan to spend time nearby, especially in temporary camps or early bases where the spawn reduction and regeneration bonus are most valuable.

The campfire also has a crafting role: the Cooking Pot and Roasting Station must be placed on top of it for them to function as crafting stations. In practice, this means the campfire is part of the setup for basic cooking progression, not just a source of comfort and safety. Once those stations are positioned correctly, the campfire becomes the base structure that supports them.
