Iron Plate is a construction material used in large quantities for buildings that consume Electricity. It is one of the key mid-game materials for expanding an industrial base, especially when progressing into more advanced infrastructure.

Because many Electricity-related facilities require Iron Plate, it is efficient to keep production running continuously rather than making it only when needed. Copper wire is also used heavily in the same stage of progression and is produced at the Blacksmith, so setting up several Blacksmiths in advance makes expansion much smoother.
