Desk Lamp

The Desk Lamp is a portable light source and a utility item used to repel several hostile entities. It functions similarly to a Flashlight for illumination, but instead of a directed beam it casts light in four circular beams. It is also notable for its defensive interaction with certain enemies: it can force the Leyak to disappear while dropping Leyak Essence, and it can similarly be used against the Reaper to make it drop Night Essence.

When used in combat or defense, the Desk Lamp can interrupt some attacks outright. The Leyak and X-Ray Tower stop the Leyak in its tracks even if it has already begun attacking the player. Against the Reaper, however, the Desk Lamp should be used carefully, since it causes the Reaper to attack the player instead of grabbing them, and there is a cooldown between further essence drops. The Darkwater Beast can also be scared away if it gets too close.

• The Desk Lamp can be painted with different kinds of paint, changing the color of the light it emits.
• It is unlocked by examining the "X-Ray Shield Emitter" control panel in the entrance to the Control Center of Cascade Laboratories, after escaping the Furniture Store.
