Frying Pan

The Frying Pan is a placeable launching surface that throws player characters and entities into the air when stepped on. It behaves like a bounce pad: the jump height is significant, but landing safely back on the same level does not cause fall damage or broken legs. Damage only becomes a risk if the landing spot is below the launch point.

It also affects vehicles. The Frying Pan can launch all vehicle types, including forklifts, GATE SUVs, and their variants, and it can bounce enemies that are human-sized or smaller. This makes it useful both as a traversal tool and as a defensive gimmick for redirecting pursuers or creating temporary vertical access.

Known spawn locations include the following:

• Manufacturing West: the entrance to the Old Mines, the Mapping Center near the two Snipers, the Digging Site near Sarah Frake and Douglas, the Old Mines area, near the small building by the exit to The Synchrotron, and the Tram station
• Cascade Laboratories: the connecting hallway to the Office Sector
• Reactors: the open area at the entrance to the Cloud Reactor area
• Voussoir: at the entrance to a cave, near three soldiers looking into the distance, and near the ski lift building
• Office Sector: Level 2 in the “Authorized personnel only” room near the elevator, and Level 3 outside Physics Lab D in the electrified area

Because it can launch vehicles as well as enemies, placement matters. A Frying Pan is most useful where it can be used to gain height, bypass awkward terrain, or create a quick escape route. In combat-heavy areas, it can also be used to interrupt enemy movement by forcing them upward and away from the player.
