Ornate Knife

The Ornate Knife is a knife-type item obtained as loot from several hostile human enemies. It can only be acquired by killing Captains, Breachers, Lab Rats, Archivists, Assassins, and Garage Rats, making it an enemy-drop item rather than something crafted or found as fixed world loot.

Beyond its direct use, the Ornate Knife has a trading purpose: it can be traded to Marion in exchange for a Power Cell. This gives it value even if the player does not intend to keep it as a weapon, and makes it worth holding onto when inventory space allows, especially if a Power Cell is more useful for current progression than the knife itself.

The item also has visible attack animations for a normal swing and a throwing action, indicating that it supports both standard close-range use and a thrown attack. In practice, this makes it more flexible than a purely melee-only knife, and players may choose whether to keep it as a backup weapon or cash it in through trade depending on their needs.
