Landing Pad

Landing Pad is a unique structure used as the player’s arrival point and as the source of the starting package in Astroneer. It appears as the default landing site at the start of a save and is also used for incoming players in multiplayer, who spawn at the Landing Pad when they join a session. Like Shelter, it is a one-of-a-kind structure and cannot be destroyed, moved, or packed away.

When the control panel on the Landing Pad is used, it generates a starting package containing a Medium Printer, an Oxygenator, and a Medium Platform B. Using the panel again destroys the previous originals and creates fresh boxed versions on the platform. This makes the Landing Pad an important part of the early game setup, since it provides the basic tools needed to begin expanding a base.

Crafted Landing Pads can be unpacked into a large cylindrical structure with an orange or green center. The pad can only be deployed when the center is green. Once placed, it serves as a functional platform for receiving and unpacking the starting package. If the structure is disassembled, it can be repacked again with a Packager.
