Express transport belt

Express transport belt is the fastest standard belt tier in the game’s belt family. It moves items at 5.625 tiles per game-second and can carry up to 45 items per game-second (this throughput is the combined capacity of both lanes). Each tile of an Express transport belt can hold up to 8 items at maximum density. The item is unlocked by researching Logistics 3.

Express transport belt follows the same placement and interaction rules as other transport belts; it is used to move items between machines, along assembly lines, and through logistic layouts where higher throughput is required. The throughput and density figures stem from the game’s transport belt physics and apply when belts are fully saturated.

Practical notes: Express transport belt is appropriate where Fast transport belt or Transport belt cannot supply enough items. Because of its high speed and density, it pairs well with stack inserters for rapid loading and unloading; it is demonstrated that a setup using four stack inserters can fully load an Express transport belt lane when inserter stack sizes are configured appropriately. When designing high-throughput bus lines or compression lanes, account for junctions, splitters, and inserter throughput so the belt remains saturated without causing backups.
