Ancient Fossil Ore
Overview
Ancient Fossil Ore is a crafting material mainly used to make Ancient Fossil Bar. It is found in Deep Desert Caves, where it appears as a rock with dark brown cuts. When mined, each rock drops 2-3 ore.
A Mycelium Pickaxe or better is required to mine Ancient Fossil Ore. Because it is tied to Deep Desert Caves, it is part of the progression into later desert exploration and ore processing, rather than an early-game material. Its main purpose is as the base ingredient for Ancient Fossil Bar, so gathering it is usually worthwhile whenever you are mining in that biome.
