It is a straightforward damage-boosting ammo choice rather than a specialized status-effect round.

In addition to its ricochet behavior, Bouncing Bullet adds 6 damage to the gun used. That bonus makes it attractive even when the bounce effect is not needed, since it improves raw output while also extending the bullet’s path after impact.
