Queen Slime

Overview
Queen Slime is a Hardmode boss summoned in The Hallow. Although she must be summoned there, the fight can continue anywhere once it begins, and she does not become enraged outside the biome. She is one of the two bosses added in 1.4, and her design, attacks, and drops are centered around the Hallow’s crystal theme.
Her behavior is similar to King Slime’s, but much more aggressive. If she cannot reach the player, she sinks into the ground and teleports to a nearby position, or directly onto the player if there are no valid blocks to teleport onto. In her first phase, she leaps at the player in bursts, then pauses briefly before choosing one of two attacks: she either fires six gravity-affected projectiles from the crystal in her crown that bounce off solid blocks twice, or she jumps upward, phases through blocks, moves above the player, and then performs a ground pound that creates a damaging shockwave on impact.
Once she falls below 50% health, she grows large wings and enters a second phase where she flies above the player and passes through solid blocks. In this phase she stops trying to teleport to the player, but continues using the same basic attacks in altered forms while airborne. Her projectile attack changes into a spread of Regal Gel shots fired in ten directions, starting in a ring and then spreading outward. Her stomp attack also changes: she tries to position herself above the player and then drops straight down, creating a shockwave on impact. If she cannot land on solid blocks after a while, she cancels the attack and flies back toward the player.
Whenever she takes damage, Queen Slime summons one of three smaller slime minions:
- Crystal Slimes, which fire crystal spike projectiles at the player.
- Bouncy Slimes, which fire pink bouncing gel projectiles.
- Heavenly Slimes, which fly directly at the player to deal contact damage.
Several details make the fight easier to manage. The Royal Gel does not prevent damage from the slimes she summons, so it does not fully neutralize her minions. Queen Slime herself and her Regal Gel projectiles are slowed by liquids, although in her second phase she is no longer affected by liquids unless she is attempting her stomp attack. Bouncy Slimes and Crystal Slimes also do not fire projectiles while floating on liquids.
A few practical strategies are especially useful:
- The minions are often the real danger, since they can fill the screen with projectiles and overwhelm the player. Prioritize killing or avoiding them.
- Staying airborne with wings or a mount is effective in the first phase, since many of her attacks cannot reach high enough. In the second phase, staying closer to the ground while baiting her upward helps avoid much of her projectile and minion pressure.
- A lava arena can help, since Queen Slime is immune to lava but her minions are not.
- Disconnected platforms can let her minions drop away from the main fight.
- The Dart Pistol or Dart Rifle with Crystal Darts can clear minions quickly while also damaging the boss.
- Life Drain is strong for magic users because it damages both the boss and newly spawned minions while the player focuses on dodging.
- In higher difficulties, do not stay above multiple Crystal Slimes for long, since their spikes can be lethal very quickly.
- In For the Worthy worlds, her AI changes: she fires more Regal Gels, the attack pattern becomes randomized, and her stomp moves faster.
Queen Slime’s drops are upgraded counterparts to several King Slime rewards, including a mount item, a hook, and a novelty weapon. Defeating her is not required for the Slayer of Worlds achievement.
