Resin

Resin is a common resource found in deposits on all planets. It is gathered with the Terrain Tool and is one of the earliest materials a player will collect while building a base, since many foundational structures and modules rely on it.

A steady supply of Resin is especially important because it can be turned directly into base expansion parts and other crafting ingredients. It is also relevant to progression objectives; the Resourcing mission requires the player to gather 4 Resin. Because it appears on every planet and is abundant, it is usually one of the easiest resources to stockpile in large amounts.

Resin can also be produced or traded in a few ways:

• A Centrifuge can produce 8 Resin using two full Canisters of Soil.
• The Trade Platform can exchange 2 Resin for each Scrap, up to 8 Resin total for 4 Scrap.

A few historical notes are worth keeping in mind. Resin was recolored from lavender to golden yellow after the Research Update. In version 131, players could sometimes collect a gold-colored version of Resin due to a graphical glitch, but the color returned to normal after reloading the save. Before being removed in 0.4.10221.0, some spires also generated Resin.

Overall, Resin is one of the most important early-game resources in Astroneer: easy to find, useful in many recipes, and valuable for both construction and mission progress.
