Cocoon

Overview
Cocoon is a larval spawning object that appears on Chrysalis in any biome. When left alone, it hatches into a Larva, making it a direct source of early creature pressure as well as a convenient way to farm repeated combat experience.
Because the resulting Larva is unaffected by how much damage the Cocoon takes before hatching, there is little reason to try to destroy it early unless you can fully prevent the spawn. If you are nearby, make sure you have a way to kill the Larvae quickly, since they can swarm you shortly after hatching. Cocoons are also useful for training: placing Cocoon Figurines with a Materializer creates a steady supply of Larvae that can be defeated repeatedly to level Vitality, Melee combat, and Range combat efficiently.
- A Cocoon is not worth focusing down unless your weapon is strong enough to remove it quickly.
- Do not stand close to one unless you are ready to handle the Larva it produces.
- For skill grinding, Cocoon Figurines combined with a Materializer provide reliable, repeatable targets.
