Pumpjack

Overview
The pumpjack is a fluid-extraction building whose output can still be improved even after a resource field has depleted to its minimum yield of 20%. Because of this, speed modules remain useful on low-yield fields and are a strong way to raise the building’s output instead of replacing it.
With two speed module 3s installed directly in the pumpjack, the output doubles from 2 to 4 fluid per second on a depleted field. With two legendary speed module 3s, the output rises by a factor of 3.5, from 2 to 7 fluid per second. This makes module choice especially important when a field is nearly exhausted.
The modified output can be calculated with the following formula:
Output of unmodified pumpjack × (1 + number of modules in pumpjack × average module bonus + transmission strength × number of modules in each
For a pumpjack on a depleted resource field with two level 3 speed modules and four beacons, each containing two level 3 speed modules, the calculation is:
2 × (1 + 2 × 0.5 + √4 × 1.5 × 2 × 0.5) = 10 fluid per second
If the setup is assumed to always use two speed 3 modules in the pumpjack and in the beacons, the expression for four beacons can be shortened to:
2 × (2 + √4 × 1.5) = 10 fluid per second
- Speed modules remain effective on depleted fields, so they are a practical upgrade even when the resource patch is at its minimum yield.
Beacon support scales strongly with the pumpjack, and the example shows that beaconed speed modules can raise output far beyond the base value.
- The formula depends on the average bonus of the modules used, so higher-tier and legendary modules have a much larger effect than standard ones.
