Forest

forest

Overview

Forest is a biome made up of terrain tiles that can be walked on or swum in, and the player can place objects on those tiles. Like other natural terrain, its floors and other solid tiles can be picked up with a Shovel, while liquid tiles can be collected with a Bucket.

The biome’s ground is also subject to the usual mining rules for ore-bearing tiles. A Pickaxe is required to mine ores, and faster pickaxes mine more quickly. Mining speed can be further improved by consumables and equipment that boost tool damage, mining speed, or mining range.

Useful bonuses for mining and terrain work include:

  • Potions that increase mining speed, including a stronger version with a longer duration.
  • Gourmet food that grants +40% Mining Speed, +1 Mining Range, and +10% Movement Speed for 16 minutes.
  • Trinkets that increase tool damage and mining speed, with some also affecting mob spawn rate.
  • Trinkets that improve mining range, building speed, building range, and item pickup range.

Ore availability is not limited to the Forest itself; ores are found in caves and related underground locations, including Deep Desert Caves, Any Cave, Deep Snow Caves, Swamp Caves, Deep Swamp Caves, Graveyard Incursions, Spider Castle Incursions, and Any Deep Cave depending on the ore. As a result, the Forest serves mainly as surface terrain and an access point to broader exploration rather than the only place to gather ore.
