Trout

Overview
Trout is a common fish item used for cooking. It is one of the basic fish you can bring back from fishing and then put toward food preparation rather than using it as a combat or crafting material. Its role is straightforward: catch it, keep it until needed, and use it in recipes that call for fish or general cooking ingredients.
It can be obtained by fishing in both inland water and seawater in the Forest, Desert, and Snow biomes. That makes it fairly flexible compared to fish that are limited to a single biome or water type. If you are actively trying to stock up on cooking materials, any of those three biomes can provide it, so fishing trips do not need to be restricted to one specific environment. Since it appears in both inland and seawater, you can pursue it while fishing in a variety of natural bodies of water instead of waiting for a special location.
Like other food items, Trout has a spoilage time of 4 hours. That means it is not meant to be left sitting in storage indefinitely if you intend to use it directly as food or as an ingredient. If you collect several while fishing, it is best to keep an eye on your inventory and move them into use before they expire. This short shelf life makes it more practical to catch Trout when you are close to cooking or when you already know you will use it soon.
