Upgrade Shard

Upgrade Shard is a crafting material used at the Upgrade Station to improve armor and weapon stats. It is obtained primarily from Incursions, where it appears as a rock with dark blue cuts. When mined, each deposit drops 2–3 minerals. Upgrade Shard can also be recovered by salvaging items at the Salvage Station.

It is one of the two ores available in every Extraction and Hunt Incursion, alongside Alchemy Shards. This makes it a reliable material to look for whenever those Incursion types are available, especially if you are gathering resources for repeated equipment upgrades.

A Mycelium Pickaxe or better is required to mine Upgrade Shard ore. Lower-tier pickaxes cannot harvest it, so players should make sure they have the proper tool before entering an Incursion that contains it. Since the ore appears in Incursions rather than the normal world, it is usually collected while progressing through those activities instead of during ordinary exploration.

Salvaging is also a useful source of Upgrade Shards, and Gateway Tablets are especially efficient to salvage for them. If you have spare items you no longer need, breaking them down at the Salvage Station can be a practical way to stockpile more Upgrade Shards without relying entirely on ore nodes.
