Wood Staff

Overview
Wood Staff is an early-game magic weapon that fires a slow-moving projectile capable of piercing a single target. It is one of the first magic options available to a player who is starting to build into a magic-focused playstyle, and its simple attack behavior makes it easy to use against basic enemies even before stronger spell gear becomes available.
Its projectile trades speed for reliable early damage, so it works best when fired at close to medium range or when enemies are moving predictably. Because the shot can pass through one target, it is slightly better than a pure single-hit projectile when enemies line up, though it is still primarily an early progression weapon rather than a crowd-control tool.
Wood Staff is crafted at an Iron Anvil with:
A single Wood Staff is produced per craft.
In practice, the weapon’s value comes from being accessible relatively early and from giving magic users a straightforward starting option before more specialized weapons appear. The slow projectile velocity means aiming matters more than with faster weapons, especially against quick enemies or targets at longer distances. However, once fired, the shot’s ability to pierce one target gives it a bit more flexibility than a weapon that stops on first contact.
Version history:
- v. 0.21.18: damage increased from 18 to 22.
- v. 0.21.21: projectile velocity increased from 50 to 75.
