Taro Root

Taro Root is a vegetable crop grown from Taro Tuber. It takes 10 days to mature normally, or 7 days if planted near water, and plants placed near water do not need to be watered. Like other irrigated crops, it retains the watered state of the soil after harvesting for the rest of the day.

Taro Root is one of the Island crops associated with wet or irrigated planting, making it especially efficient in spots beside water where irrigation is automatic. Its growth stages are 1 day, 2 days, 3 days, and 4 days for non-irrigated planting, while irrigated planting shortens the middle stages to 1, 1, 2, and 3 days.

It also has several practical uses outside of selling as a crop:

• It can be used in the Sewing Machine spool to create the dyeable Shirt And Belt.
• It works as an orange dye ingredient at the dye pots in Emily and Haley's house.
• Blue Discus may request 3 Taro Roots or 10 Taro Roots in Fish Pond quests to raise pond capacity.
• Caroline may request 100 Taro Roots in the "Island Ingredients" Special Order, which rewards gold equal to 50% of the crop's base price and the Solar Panel recipe.
