Tomato

Tomato is a vegetable crop that grows from Tomato Seeds. It takes 11 days to mature, then produces one Tomato every 4 days after harvest. There is also a 5% chance to harvest additional Tomatoes at once, making it a reliable repeat crop once it reaches maturity.

Its growth cycle is divided into five stages before the first harvest, with the first four stages each taking 2 days and the fifth taking 3 days. After the initial harvest, the plant enters a 4-day regrowth period and continues producing indefinitely for the season, so it is best planted early in Summer to maximize the number of harvests.

Tomato has a few useful secondary uses beyond selling or cooking:

• It can be used in the Sewing Machine spool to create the Tomato Shirt.
• It can be used as a red dye in the dye pots at Emily’s and Haley’s house, 2 Willow Lane.
• It may be requested randomly in Summer on the Help Wanted board outside Stone’s General Store for a reward of money and 150 Friendship points.

Tomato is also notable because its classification is treated as a crop item even though its fruit-or-vegetable status is debated in-game. That distinction comes up during Demetrius’ Six Hearts event, and it is also reflected in the Tomato Shirt, which appears to combine elements associated with Demetrius and Robin.
