Solar Essence

Solar Essence is a monster loot item dropped by Ghosts, Iridium Bats, Metal Heads, dangerous Metal Heads, Haunted Skulls, Squid Kids, dangerous Squid Kids, Mummies, Hot Heads, and Blue Squids. It can also be purchased from Krobus, who sells 10 per day. In Fish Ponds, Sunfish may randomly produce Solar Essence once the pond reaches 10 fish.

Solar Essence has several practical uses beyond selling or stockpiling for combat supplies. It is used in the Sewing Machine spool to craft the Yoba Shirt, and it can be placed in dye pots as a yellow dye. The dye pots are found in Emily's and Haley's house at 2 Willow Lane.

It is also used in quest and progression content:

• One Solar Essence is required for the third part of the “The Mysterious Qi” quest.
• Some Fish Pond quests may request 5 Solar Essence to raise a pond’s capacity from 7 to 10.

Because it is a common drop from several late-game monsters, Solar Essence is easy to gather while exploring mines, the Skull Cavern, or other combat-heavy areas. Buying it from Krobus is useful when a small amount is needed immediately for crafting, tailoring, or quest completion.
