Seaweed

Overview
Seaweed is a forageable marine item found in the ocean and on the beach. It is one of the game’s many natural resources that can be collected directly from the environment, and it often serves as a low-value but useful crafting and quest ingredient rather than a high-profit crop or fish. Because it can appear along the shoreline, it is easy to stockpile while exploring the coast or checking for other beach forage.
Seaweed has several practical uses. It can be placed in the Sewing Machine spool to create the Kelp Shirt, and it can also be used in dyeing as a green dye at the dye pots in Emily’s and Haley’s house at 2 Willow Lane. It may also be requested randomly during any season on the Help Wanted board outside Pierre’s General Store, where fulfilling the request gives a gold reward and 150 Friendship points.
- Seaweed can appear as a requirement in Fish Pond quests.
- Some ocean fish may ask for 1–2 Seaweed to raise a pond’s capacity from 3 to 5.
- Since it is tied to ocean-themed fish pond progression, keeping a small reserve is useful if you are building and expanding multiple ponds.
Although Seaweed is a simple item, it is a steady part of several systems: fishing-adjacent progression, tailoring, dyeing, and bulletin board requests. Players who routinely visit the beach or maintain Fish Ponds will usually find it worth saving rather than selling immediately.
