Overview
Storage items are furniture items that can be placed in the world and then interacted with to open an inventory for storing items. They form a broad category of storage-focused furniture and include several display-style containers as well as standard chests and other miscellaneous storage pieces.
Most storage items differ mainly in capacity and presentation. Single-wide chests hold 18 items in a 1×1 space, while double-wide chests hold 36 items in a 2×1 space. Tables hold 4–8 items and show their contents on top, while pedestals have a single slot and also display what is placed on them. Pet displays have one slot and show the pet placed inside, and creature displays have 3 slots and display the insects or fish stored within. Terrariums and aquariums are also part of this group. Some storage items do not fit into any of the other listed categories.
Like other placeable furniture, storage items are used by setting them down and opening them afterward to manage their contents. They are useful for organizing bases, showcasing captured creatures or pets, and keeping frequently used items accessible.
