Native Bread
Overview
Native Bread is a special mushroom-type food item associated with Burrowcoots and Boaricoots. It is not gathered from the wild in the usual way; instead, it appears when a fully grown, well-cared-for Burrowcoot or Boaricoot digs up a grassy tile inside its pen.
This makes Native Bread a livestock-produced item tied to animal care and enclosure management rather than regular harvesting. To obtain it, the animal must be both mature and kept in good condition, and the digging must happen on a grassy tile in its pen. When this occurs, the grassy tile is turned into dirt, so producing Native Bread also changes the pen’s ground and can reduce the amount of grass available there afterward.
- Produced by fully grown, well-cared-for Burrowcoots or Boaricoots.
- The animal must dig up a grassy tile in its pen for it to appear.
- The tile that was dug up becomes dirt after the item is generated.
- Because the ground changes to dirt, repeated production can gradually reduce grassy space in the enclosure.
For players maintaining these animals, Native Bread is therefore linked to keeping the pen in good shape as well as keeping the creatures healthy enough to trigger the digging behavior.
