Burrowcoot

burrowcoot

Overview

Burrowcoot is a farm animal that can be kept in an Animal Den, fed with Animal Food, and cared for to improve its hearts and product quality. A Burrowcoot sleeps in an Animal Den and does not use other animal shelters, so each den only supports one Burrowcoot. Like other animals, it must be healthy, have a home, and have been fed the previous day in order to produce products or breed.

Once fully grown, a Burrowcoot digs once per day to produce either Worms in dirt or Native Bread in grassy areas. It must eat Animal Food from an Animal Feeder once per day; if it is not fed, it does not die, but it becomes unhappy and stops producing. Daily attention also matters: petting the Burrowcoot adds hearts, and the Guitar can satisfy this need as well. If an animal pen has a gate, NPCs may sometimes wander in and pet the animal automatically.

Burrowcoot joeys can be purchased from Animal Shop Deed, rotating with Pleep and Vombat joeys. A Burrowcoot joey takes 12 days to mature into an adult. Burrowcoots can also be bred with a Boaricoot to produce a Burrowcoot joey.

  • Keep Burrowcoots fed, sheltered, and petted every day to raise hearts faster and maintain production.
  • Place them in an Animal Den, since they do not benefit from other animal shelters.
  • Use an Animal Feeder stocked with Animal Food; an unfed Burrowcoot becomes unhappy and stops producing.
  • Fully grown Burrowcoots produce different items depending on terrain: Worms from dirt and Native Bread from grassy areas.
  • Breeding requires both animals to be healthy, housed, and fed the day before.
  • NPC visits to fenced pens can help with petting if a gate is present.
