Cockatoo

Overview
The Cockatoo is a wild animal in Dinkum. It is a passive bird that spends much of its time flying around, and it is not typically dangerous to players because of its flighty behavior. When startled, it can fly over fences, making enclosure-based control unreliable.
Cockatoos will try to eat a variety of dropped seeds and crops, so they are often found around planted areas or any place where food items have been left on the ground. Their diet includes seeds, crops, and other plant-based items such as fir grass seeds, grass seeds, tropical grass seeds, cabbage seeds, carrot seeds, corn seeds, kale seeds, onion seeds, potato seeds, pumpkin seeds, sugar cane seeds, watermelon seeds, wheat seeds, pine cones, gum nuts, and even animal food.
They can be hunted for useful materials. Upon death, Cockatoos can drop feathers, bone, and/or raw drumstick, and they also drop feathers periodically while flying. Because they are mobile and easily spooked, hunting them is usually easier with ranged or stun-based tactics.
- Spears are the most versatile weapon type for hunting them.
- Waiting until night can make them easier to target.
- A Torch or Bat Zapper can stun them and create a safer opening.
- The Alpha Bat’s flaming projectiles can also be used to hit them without startling them.
Since Cockatoos are not usually threatened by most creatures and tend to avoid direct conflict, the main challenge is catching them before they fly away. Their ability to cross fences means they are best approached in open ground or controlled with quick, accurate attacks rather than static barriers.
