Alpha Shark

Overview
The Alpha Shark is a wild animal in Dinkum and one of the alpha variants found in the game’s wildlife. It is a dangerous ocean predator that is tied to the Alpha Hunter milestone, which requires defeating an alpha animal. In multiplayer, an alpha animal’s health increases with each additional player, making the fight longer and more demanding as more people join.
Alpha Sharks are aggressive by default and attack on sight. Their basic offense is a lunging bite, and they also use a powerful stomp attack that creates multiple pulsating earthquakes around them. Because of their high damage and health, they are among the more threatening hunting targets in the game.
Alpha Sharks are found in Island Reef, but they only appear after the player has broken the shipwreck with an axe or chainsaw. This means the area must be unlocked before the animal can spawn there, so clearing the wreck is a necessary step before hunting one.
On death, an Alpha Shark drops Raw Prime Meat and can sometimes drop an Alpha Shark Tooth. A rarer drop is the Shark Egg. These drops make the hunt worthwhile even beyond the milestone reward, especially for players looking for valuable materials and uncommon monster drops.
For combat, spear variants are the most versatile weapon choice for hunting in general, and the Alpha Shark is no exception. Because of its high health and heavy damage, it is also useful to bring combat-enhancing foods such as Dagwood Dog or Prime Roast to make the fight easier. Staying prepared matters, since the Alpha Shark’s attacks punish careless approaches and its stomp can hit multiple times through the earthquake effect.
