Alpha Bush Devil

Overview
The Alpha Bush Devil is a wild animal in Dinkum and one of the game’s alpha creatures. It is tied to the Alpha Hunter milestone and appears as part of a Bulletin Board task, which must be accepted before it can spawn. Alpha animals gain additional health in multiplayer for each extra player, making the fight longer and more dangerous in groups.
Alpha Bush Devils are found in Pine Forests and Great Bites. They are aggressive by default and fight with a fast lunging bite at close range. At longer range, they can launch a multi-projectile fireball attack that sets the target on fire if any projectile connects. Their most dangerous attack is a fire bombardment that can ignite the ground where it lands, creating an area that is hazardous to stand in.
Defeating one rewards a generous amount of Dinks when the Bulletin Board task is turned in. On death, it also drops Raw Prime Meat, and it can sometimes drop an Alpha Eye. Completion of the related task also contributes toward the Alpha Hunter milestone for defeating alpha animals.
For hunting, spears are a versatile weapon choice, especially when fighting safely at reach. Because the Alpha Bush Devil has high damage and health, bringing combat-boosting food such as Dagwood Dog or Prime Roast can make the encounter much easier. Fighting near water is useful, since it allows the player to extinguish themselves quickly if set on fire. Staying close to the animal can also be effective at times, as it may favor its area-of-effect bombardment instead of repeated lunging bites, but this also carries significant risk if the fire lands directly on the player.
- Accept the Bulletin Board task first, or the Alpha Bush Devil will not appear.
- Prepare for fire damage and burning ground effects.
- Spears are a strong, flexible hunting option.
- Combat foods help offset its high health and damage.
- Water nearby gives you a fast way to put out flames.
