Alpha Jackaroo

The Alpha Jackaroo is a wild animal in Dinkum and one of the Alpha creatures tied to Bulletin Board tasks and the Alpha Hunter milestone. It appears in Bushlands and Great Bite, but only after the player has accepted the related task from the Bulletin Board. Defeating it contributes toward the Alpha Hunter milestone for defeating an alpha animal, and completing the Bulletin Board task also rewards a generous amount of Dinks.

Alpha Jackaroos are aggressive by default. Their basic attack is a telegraphed but powerful kick, and they also use a stomp attack that sends out multiple pulsating earthquakes around the animal. Because both attacks can deal heavy damage, the fight is safest when the player stays mobile and avoids lingering near the creature after it commits to an attack.

Upon death, an Alpha Jackaroo drops Raw Prime Meat and may sometimes drop an Alpha Antler. In multiplayer, an Alpha's health increases with each additional player, so encounters become significantly longer and more demanding as more players join the fight.

For hunting, the spear and its variants are among the most versatile weapon choices. The Alpha Jackaroo's high damage and health make it useful to bring combat-enhancing food such as Dagwood Dog or Prime Roast before engaging. Hit-and-run tactics are often necessary, since both the kick and the earthquake-style stomp punish stationary fighting.
