Bush Devil

The Bush Devil is a wild animal in Dinkum. It is an aggressive, nocturnal predator that attacks with a bite and a forward-projected fireball. If the fireball connects, it sets its target on fire. Bush Devils are immune to fire damage from other Bush Devils, which makes fire-based attacks less useful when they are grouped together.

Bush Devils are found in Pine Forest bone dens and in the Deep Mine. Bone dens are formed by tall rocks, and destroying all of those rocks removes the spawn point. In the Deep Mine, they are one of the stronger threats the player can encounter, alongside the Croco above ground and the Glowing Croco underground.

They drop Raw Meat and Bone on death, with Flame Sac as a rare drop. Because of their aggression and ranged attack, they are usually best handled with care rather than rushed. Spears are a versatile hunting choice, while a Flaming Bat can be especially effective in the Deep Mine because it provides both offense and light in dark areas.

• Wearing the Bush Devil Hood makes Bush Devils, Crocos, and Glowing Crocos aggressive toward the player, even on Peaceful Wish.
• A Bush Devil can be attracted with a Bush Devil Box from Ted Selly.
• A Berley Box releases smoke that indicates the animal type it attracts, and up to three animals of that type can spawn nearby.
• If attracted animals are hunted, trapped, or killed, replacements continue to appear until the box deactivates.
• Animals spawned by a box remain even after the box stops working.
• If a Bush Devil is trapped in the Deep Mine, it must be brought back up onto the island before it can be sent off.
