Alpha Croco

The Alpha Croco is a wild alpha animal in Dinkum and one of the tougher crocodile variants encountered in the game. It is tied to the Alpha Hunter milestone, which is advanced by defeating alpha animals, and it also appears as a Bulletin Board quest target.

Alpha Crocos spawn in Billabong, Rivers, and Great Bite, but only while the player has accepted the related quest from the Bulletin Board. Their health increases in multiplayer with each additional player, making them significantly more durable in co-op than in solo play.

In combat, Alpha Crocos are aggressive by default. Their normal attacks consist of a bite and a tail slash, and both are telegraphed before they land, giving the player a brief window to react. They also use a special attack that erupts ground spikes, so staying alert to attack cues is important.

On death, an Alpha Croco drops Raw Prime Meat and may also drop an Alpha Scale. Completing the Bulletin Board task that summons one rewards a generous amount of Dinks as well.

For hunting, spears are the most versatile weapon type against it. High-damage, high-health alpha animals are easier to handle with combat foods such as Dagwood Dog or Prime Roast, and staying on the animal’s back can help reduce the chance of being targeted by the bite attack.
