Cave Bat

Overview
The Cave Bat is a wild animal in Dinkum. It is aggressive by default and is commonly encountered in dark underground areas, especially the mines. Its movement is often unpredictable, and its attack is a telegraphed swoop that deals light damage to the player.
Because of its mobility, the Cave Bat is best handled with weapons that can strike at a distance. Spears are a versatile choice for hunting, and the Bat Zapper is also effective against it. When fighting Cave Bats in the mines, a Flaming Bat can be even more practical than a spear, since it doubles as a light source while still allowing you to defend yourself.
- Cave Bats are hostile unless dealt with first.
- Their swoop attack is easy to read, but their erratic movement can make close-range fighting awkward.
- Long-range weapons are the most reliable way to deal with them.
- A Flaming Bat is especially useful underground because it provides light as well as a weapon.
- Upon death, Cave Bats very rarely drop a Bat Wing.
Cave Bats are a minor but notable source of Bat Wings, though the drop rate is low enough that farming them is inefficient if that material is your only goal. In practice, they are more often treated as a nuisance enemy to be cleared while exploring the mines than as a dependable resource target.
