Overview

The Wary Mu is a wild animal in Dinkum. It is a territorial creature that lives in the Tropics, usually near a Wary Mu Nest, and it is one of the more dangerous animals to approach early on because it attacks on sight when players get too close.

Wary Mu are aggressive by default and will defend their nest area. Their attacks consist of a forward charge and a kick, so keeping distance and watching for the charge animation is important when fighting them. They are not usually considered a major threat in the sense of being hard to encounter, since they spawn in a specific biome, but they can be dangerous if you wander into their territory unprepared.

Wary Mu Eggs can be found in their nests each Spring. The nests themselves do not guarantee a Wary Mu spawn every day, and destroying a nest removes that spawn point. Even so, Wary Mu nests may respawn in the Tropics during Winter, provided there is enough clear space on tropical grass and no other nest is within 6 tiles. Nests also require open ground to appear, so crowded terrain can prevent new spawns.

When defeated, Wary Mu can drop Raw Giant Drumstick and/or Bone. These drops make them a useful target if you need meat or crafting materials, although their aggression means it is best to hunt them with caution. The spear and its different forms are especially versatile for hunting, making them a practical choice for fighting Wary Mu from a safer distance.
