Worms
Overview
Worms are a variable wearable item obtained from fully grown, well-cared-for Boaricoots or Burrowcoots when they dig up a bare tile each day. Unlike most bait items, they are also equipped as headgear, occupying the head slot when worn.
They have a practical dual purpose: as an item they can be used as bait for the Crab Pot, and as a wearable they can be placed directly on the player’s head like other variable wearables. Because they come from animal digging behavior rather than crafting or shop purchase, they are tied to keeping Boaricoots or Burrowcoots healthy and fully grown so they can perform the daily digging action.
A few useful points when dealing with Worms:
- To obtain them consistently, keep a fully grown Boaricoot or Burrowcoot well cared for.
- The animal must dig up a bare tile for the item to appear.
- Worms can be used in the Crab Pot as bait.
- Worms are worn in the head slot, so equipping them will replace whatever is currently in that slot.
Their role makes them more unusual than a standard resource item: they are both a functional fishing-related consumable and a cosmetic or equipment-based wearable. This makes them worth saving if you want to run Crab Pots regularly, but also worth trying on if you are collecting variable wearables.
