All Endings Guide: Conditions & How to Get
Endings in ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN determine the game's final cinematic and which epilogue content or Chapter completion you receive. This page summarizes the endings available in NIGHTREIGN, the key requirements or items that trigger each ending, and crucial timing or positioning details so you can reliably obtain the ending you want.
Overview of ending types
- Regular/standard ending: The default completion path if you follow the main story and interact with the final corpse as the game prompts.
- Special/alternate endings: Require specific items, character choices, boss encounters, or interaction points at the Roundtable Hold after the final boss. Several endings are tied to optional bosses or to the game's Chapter system.
General rules for triggering endings
- Endings are decided by specific interactions in the Roundtable Hold after the final boss. Which NPC you speak to, which corpse or object you touch, and what items are equipped in your active character role can all change the ending.
- Some ending triggers only appear when you are in a specific character role (for example, the hidden "Hermit" role). If you switch roles away from the required one, the trigger may disappear until you switch back.
- Be careful to not perform the default "touch the corpse" action when you intend to trigger a special ending; doing so will lock you into the normal ending sequence.
Chapter 8 (special Chapter completion ending)
- Requirement summary:
- Progress through the game up to Chapter 7.
- Take on the optional deployment "Nightshaper" (描く者 of the Night) while in the Hermit (隠者) role.
- Defeat the Nightlord (夜の王).
- At the Roundtable Hold after the fight, do NOT use the usual "touch the corpse" action. Instead, in the Hold's antechamber (控え室) approach the bed where a child lies and perform the interact action labeled "touch the child" (幼子に触れる).
- Outcome:
- Triggering "touch the child" advances to Chapter 8 rather than the regular ending.
- After the ending, speak to the Ring Witch (輪の魔女) in the Roundtable Hold antechamber to receive the "Remembrance" (追憶) costume and mark Chapter 8 as completed.
- Important notes:
- The Ring Witch will only appear if your active play character is set to the Hermit role. If you change character and she disappears, switch back to Hermit and she will reappear. There is no need to repeatedly defeat certain bosses (e.g., Nameless) to make her appear.
Dawn ending (requires rune delivery)
- Requirement:
- Obtain the special rune (the sword/rune described as required for "Dawn").
- After defeating Heolstor the Nightlord, go to the back of the Roundtable Hold and deliver that rune to the Primordial Nightlord corpse located there.
- Outcome:
- Delivering the rune to that specific corpse triggers the Dawn ending cinematic instead of the standard finale.
Astel/Moonlight-related ending path
- Requirement:
- Defeat Astel, Naturalborn of the Void (an optional boss).
- Outcome:
- Defeating Astel opens access to the Moonlight Altar area and is required for at least one ending branch tied to that location.
- Notes:
- Because Astel is optional, this ending path is missable if you never engage that boss before the game's completion.
Wylder-specific ending (Silver Tear)
- Requirement:
- Defeat the Night Aspect while playing as Wylder and have the Silver Tear equipped.
- Outcome:
- Defeating the Night Aspect under those conditions produces Wylder's unique ending.
Practical tips and checklist before finalizing an ending
- Save/backup before the final sequence so you can reload if you accidentally trigger the wrong ending.
- Confirm your active character role (e.g., Hermit or Wylder) before interacting with final corpses or antechamber NPCs.
- Equip any item required for a particular ending (for example,
Silver Tear for Wylder) before the final encounter that leads to the Roundtable Hold interactions. - Avoid the default "touch the corpse" interaction if you intend to use a special delivery or alternate interact option in the Hold.
- After finishing an ending that grants Chapter completion or special rewards, talk to all NPCs in the Roundtable Hold antechamber—some unlock costumes, items, or Chapter progress only via a post-ending conversation.
Use this guide as a checklist while approaching the game's finale to secure the ending you want without missing role- or item-dependent triggers.
