Epic quality

Overview

The complete set of Quality levels and their strength values is:
- Normal (0)
- Uncommon (1)
- Rare (2)
- Epic (3)
- Legendary (5)
The numeric values shown above are the in-game strength tiers applied to modifiers or bonuses conferred by items, equipment, or other mechanics that use Quality as a parameter. The Normal through Rare steps increase by one numeric tier each, but Legendary is notable for having a strength two tiers higher than Epic rather than one. This means Legendary (5) provides a larger jump in modifier strength compared to the increment between Rare and Epic.
Practical notes:
- Epic (3) is a high-tier Quality and is typically more desirable than Normal, Uncommon, or Rare in contexts where Quality determines bonus magnitude.
- When comparing items or effects, compare their Quality numeric values directly to determine which offers the stronger modifier.
- Keep in mind the exceptional gap between Epic and Legendary: a Legendary item usually outperforms an Epic item by a greater margin than the difference between adjacent lower tiers.
This Quality system is part of the vanilla game's item/equipment modifier framework and is used wherever the game refers to Quality levels to scale effects.
