Overview

Trinkets are equippable items that provide bonus effects and buffs. They are divided into regular trinkets, which can be placed in the normal trinket slots, and ability trinkets, which can only be equipped in the special ability trinket slot.

Players start with 4 trinket slots and 1 ability trinket slot. The maximum number of regular trinket slots is 8 as of version 1.1.1, and it is increased through specific progression upgrades:

  • Defeating Void Wizard and using Empty Pendant increases the maximum to 5.
  • Defeating Pirate Captain and using Pirate Sheath increases it to 6.
  • Defeating Fallen Wizard and using Wizard Socket increases it to 7.
  • Completing a Tier 5 Incursion or higher and using Wormhole Locket increases it to 8.

These upgrades are tiered in order, but they do not need to be used in sequence. If a later upgrade is used first, it still raises the slot cap to its final value and makes earlier upgrades unusable. For example, using Wizard Socket before the earlier upgrades will raise the maximum from 4 to 7, and Empty Pendant and Pirate Sheath can no longer be used.

Ability trinkets work differently from regular trinkets: when equipped in the ability trinket slot, the player can press the control key, defaulting to SPACE, to activate the ability. Regular trinkets do not use this activation method and simply provide their passive effects while equipped.
