Corrupted Bot

Overview
Corrupted Bot is a hostile robotic creature found in a heavily damaged, overgrown state. It is an enemy with a large health pool and strong defensive technology, making it much more dangerous than its appearance suggests. These units are based on G.E.A.R. expedition assistant robots, originally built to support TransRecon teams, but the corrupted versions have been altered by the Gatekeepers’ use, neglect, or both.
Corrupted Bots are often encountered standing idle or motionless, as if deactivated. They become hostile when approached from the front or when attacked, and then pursue targets with a noticeable limp that significantly reduces their movement speed. Despite this impairment, they are still dangerous up close and at range, especially because they can fight through their shielding and continue advancing.
Their main defense is Hardlight shielding technology. The shield must be broken or otherwise nullified before they can be damaged effectively, and it will redeploy after a short recharge period. When their health gets low, they can suddenly move at high speed, which can catch an unprepared player off guard. Corrupted Bots are immune to all electric weapons and resistant to blunt weapons, but they are weak to holy-based damage. Weapons that deal Holy damage are especially effective against them. The Spiked Club has no effect on Corrupted Bots.
Their attacks include:
- Acid Flush: the bot sweeps its cannon from side to side, spraying a large area in front of it with acid.
- Cannon Punch: a simple melee strike with its arm.
- Cannon Lunge: a forward melee attack where it rears back before punching, briefly surging ahead.
When defeated, Corrupted Bots always drop Heart of Corruption and Murkweed. They can also be harvested for Tech Scrap, Robot Oil, and Arcane Scrap, with a chance to obtain a GATE Defense Rune as well.
Visually, Corrupted Bots resemble brown-accented Defense Robots, but appear badly damaged. A portion of the front torso is torn open, foreign vegetation has overgrown the chassis, and the spotlight emits a blinding white beam. Their shoulder and thigh armor still bears the Gatekeepers’ insignia, reinforcing their connection to the organization that repurposed or left them in this corrupted state.
