Archivist

Archivist is a non-hostile creature associated with the Praetorium library, where they can be seen wandering or working. They belong to the Clericum of the Order, a group entrusted with preserving and expanding the knowledge stored in the sect’s archives. The in-game compendium describes them as specialists in translation, hermeneutics, archival research, exegesis, and accession, and notes that their work supports the Great Library and the wider structure of the Order.

In play, Archivists do not fight back. When they detect a player, they react with a fear animation and flee, and they will never attack. This makes them behave more like a background NPC creature than a combat encounter, though they can still be interacted with through their drops.

Archivists drop several useful items when defeated or harvested:

• Purported Grimoire — 100%
• Tactical Scrap — 100%
• Lodestone Fragment — 10%
• Ornate Key — 5%
• Human Skull — 100% as a harvestable drop

The guaranteed drops make Archivists a reliable source of generic crafting and progression materials, while the rarer Lodestone Fragment and Ornate Key are the main reasons to seek them out. Since they flee instead of fighting, the easiest way to obtain their drops is to pursue them quickly once they notice the player. Their behavior in the library also suggests they are tied more strongly to the setting’s lore and atmosphere than to direct combat progression.

As Order-aligned scholars, Archivists reinforce the Praetorium’s role as a place of study and preservation rather than open warfare. Their presence helps establish the Clericum as caretakers of knowledge rather than field soldiers, and their compendium entry makes clear that their expertise is considered essential to the Order’s survival.
