Fool's Gambit

Fool's Gambit is an item that can be purchased from the Exotic Merchant after defeating the Pirate Captain. It is unusual among equipable items because it behaves like a regular Trinket while occupying the Ability Trinket slot. In practice, this lets the player run one extra Trinket effect at the expense of giving up their Ability Trinket entirely.

Because it occupies the Ability Trinket slot, Fool's Gambit is most valuable for builds that want to stack another passive bonus without relying on an active ability item. It does not provide any special use effect, and activating it does nothing. For that reason, its value comes entirely from the passive equipment flexibility it offers rather than from any direct action.
