Flameling

Overview
The Flameling is a type of Caveling that appears only during incursions with the Flameling Infested modifier. It is a hostile fire-based enemy that differs from regular Cavelings in several important ways: it cannot normally be killed, it does not drop loot, and it remains floating in place rather than hiding or moving around.
When a Flameling spawns, it stays stationary and attacks by shooting damaging fireballs. These projectiles can travel through terrain, so walls and other solid blocks do not provide full protection. Because of this, the fight is less about chasing the enemy and more about avoiding its attacks and dealing with the modifier’s increased pressure during the incursion.
- Flameling enemies are tied specifically to Flameling Infested incursions.
- They are immune to death unless the Revenge Time! perk is active on the Fallen Altar.
- They do not drop items or rewards when defeated.
- Their fireballs can pass through terrain, making cover unreliable.
- Since they do not move or hide, they are easier to keep track of than many other enemies, but their stationary ranged attacks can still be dangerous in cramped areas.
In practice, the main threat comes from the combination of persistence and terrain-ignoring attacks. Players should avoid assuming that walls or natural obstacles will block incoming shots, and should be prepared to reposition when fighting in enclosed spaces.
