Grizzly Bear

Overview
Grizzly Bears are a Forest variant of Polar Bears found in Forest Caves, where they usually rest on their nests. These nests are uncommon mini biomes, and the bears are not hostile at first unless disturbed while sleeping. A Grizzly Bear must be defeated to complete one of the three forest cave challenges.
Despite appearing early, Grizzly Bears are dangerous enemies. Their high damage, defense, and knockback resistance can overwhelm unprepared players, especially because underground fights often happen in very tight spaces. Once awakened, they are best treated as a serious cave threat rather than a simple ambient mob.
Grizzly Bear nests also contain a barrel where a Grizzly Cub can be found, making the nest a notable point of interest even aside from the bear itself.
- Be careful when entering a nest, since attacking the bear or otherwise disturbing it will start the fight.
- Their close-quarters combat style makes mobility and spacing important; fighting them in open ground is easier than in cramped tunnels.
- Early-game players should approach with caution, since the bear’s damage and durability can outclass basic equipment.
- Because one defeat is required for a forest cave challenge, players may need to seek one out intentionally rather than avoid it completely.
These mobs are part of the Forest Cave experience and serve as one of the stronger early underground encounters, combining exploration rewards with a dangerous defensive fight.
