Overview

Banner of War is a placed object used to greatly increase enemy spawn rates around the player. Unlike normal spawning behavior, it also allows enemies to appear in lit-up areas, which makes it especially useful for building efficient and simple mob farms. Its main value comes from turning otherwise safe or well-lit spaces into active spawning zones, letting the player control where large numbers of enemies appear.

Multiple Banners of War stack with each other, increasing spawn pressure further. In practice, the effect reaches diminishing returns once too many banners are placed, since around 10 banners the area will usually hit the spawn cap and additional banners will not meaningfully improve the spawn rate. Because of this, a large number of banners can be used, but there is a practical limit to how much benefit they provide.

Enemies that spawn from the Banner of War will automatically aggro toward the banner itself. If their route is too long, they will break walls to reach it, which can affect the layout of a farm or combat arena. Enemies that spawn normally around the player do not aggro toward the banner, so the banner’s pull only applies to the enemies it directly helps create. This distinction matters when designing a farm, since the banner can draw spawned enemies into a predictable path while ordinary spawns may still behave independently.

  • Best results come from combining multiple banners in one farm rather than relying on a single banner.
  • Around 10 banners is generally enough to reach the spawn cap in a typical setup.
  • Since banner-spawned enemies target the banner, farm layouts should account for pathing and wall durability.
  • The strongest mob farms make use of multiple banners and no stink flasks.
