Lantern

Lanterns are accessories equipped in the player’s lantern slot. Every Lantern provides a glow bonus, and the slot is used specifically for light-giving items rather than ordinary accessories.

Several Lanterns also provide additional benefits beyond illumination. Their upgrade level determines the amount of light they emit, and the Japanese source notes that light output is capped at +8 even when upgraded further. The Lantern family includes both regular and event-specific variants, with different levels, effects, and acquisition methods.

• Small Lantern: level 2, +3 glow, no extra effect listed. It is made at the Copper Workbench and does not need to be upgraded beyond the point where it reaches +8 glow.
• Lantern: level 6, +4 glow, grants +9 maximum health. It is found in chests and from Hive Growth.
• Orb Lantern: level 9, +5 glow, grants +9% mining damage. It is crafted at the Scarlet Workbench.
• Pearl Lantern: level 12, +5 glow, grants +7.0% movement speed and +1.6 mana per second. It is crafted at the Octarine Workbench and can be found while fishing in The Sunken Sea.
• Soul Lantern: level 12, +6 glow, grants +32.1% minion attack speed. It is associated with Ra-Akar the Sand Titan and gives a blue glow.
• Pumpkin Lantern: level 7, +4 glow, restores 0.5 health per second. It is obtained from a Samhain Goodie Bag.

The various Lanterns are useful for different builds depending on whether the player wants better survival, mobility, mining, mana regeneration, or minion performance. Even when a Lantern’s secondary effect is not the main reason to equip it, the glow bonus makes it valuable for exploration in dark areas. The stronger Lanterns also tend to combine higher light levels with more specialized bonuses, so upgrading to a better Lantern is worthwhile once the player can obtain one.

Because Lanterns occupy a dedicated slot, they compete with one another rather than with standard accessories. This makes them a straightforward choice: equip the Lantern whose passive bonus best matches the current activity, or keep one on hand primarily for its light.
