Poison Spike Trap

A mechanical spike trap that reacts to anyone stepping on it and additionally applies poison when inflicting damage.
Overview
The Poison Spike Trap is a natural trap found throughout the world. It functions as a pressure trap: when any creature steps on it, it activates and deals 108–132 damage while also applying poison for 15 seconds. After triggering, it has a 2.5-second cooldown before it can fire again.
Because it inflicts poison, the trap is useful not only for its immediate damage but also for preventing enemies from recovering health while they are not actively fighting. In Core Keeper, monsters can periodically regenerate when they are not engaged, so poison can help keep pressure on enemies during prolonged fights or in trap-based kill setups.
Practical notes:
- It affects any creature that steps on it, so placement matters as much as damage.
- The poison effect makes it especially useful against enemies that would otherwise linger and heal between hits.
- Since it has a short cooldown, it can keep contributing damage in busy corridors or choke points if targets keep crossing it.
- Like other traps, its value is highest when enemies are forced to walk over it repeatedly rather than just once.
