Rice
Overview
Rice is a crop that can be grown from Rice Seeds and harvested for use in cooking. It stands out from most other crops because Rice Seeds can be planted under shallow water; when planted this way, they do not need to be watered. This makes Rice one of the few plants that can be deliberately used in wet areas instead of being restricted to dry farmland.
Rice is primarily useful as a cooking ingredient. It can be cooked in a Billy Can Kit to make Cooked Rice, and Cooked Rice is then used at the Cooking Table to prepare Egg Fried Rice and Roe Nigiri. Because of that, Rice serves as a direct link in a small but important food chain, turning a basic crop into a component for more advanced meals.
- Rice Seeds are unique among crops in that they can be planted in shallow water.
- When grown in shallow water, Rice does not require watering.
- Rice can be processed in a Billy Can Kit into Cooked Rice.
- Cooked Rice is used in the Cooking Table recipes for Egg Fried Rice and Roe Nigiri.
Its planting behavior makes Rice especially convenient for players who want to make use of ponds, flooded ground, or other shallow-water areas on their farm. Instead of competing for standard dry plots, Rice can be integrated into watery layouts with less maintenance.
