Flame Spear

The Flame Spear is a hunting weapon with long range and medium attack speed. It can be found randomly in a red chest in Hot Hot Hot. Unlike a normal melee spear, it launches a line of lava plumes forward, letting you damage enemies from a safer distance while also applying a burning effect.

When used, the Flame Spear sends out a series of lava plumes that travel five tiles straight ahead. Any animal hit by the plumes takes 6 damage and is set on fire. The fire continues to deal damage for a few seconds after the initial hit, making the spear especially effective against creatures that remain on land and stay in place long enough to be hit repeatedly.

A few practical points make the weapon easier to use well:

• It has long range, so it works best when you keep enemies in a straight line in front of you.
• The attack is strongest when the target cannot close the gap quickly, since the burning effect can continue to tick after impact.
• Water cancels the burning effect. If a target moves into a body of water, or is already standing in one, the fire will be extinguished.
• Because the plumes travel in a line, positioning matters more than with many other weapons. Good spacing helps ensure the full attack connects.
• Its medium attack speed makes it a solid choice for hunting, but it still rewards careful timing rather than rapid button pressing.

The Flame Spear is particularly useful for pressuring enemies from a distance while adding extra damage over time. Its combination of reach and fire damage makes it a distinctive weapon for hunting in areas where you can control movement and avoid water interference.
