Stone furnace

The stone furnace is the basic furnace building and the cheapest of the three standard furnace tiers. It uses fuel and processes ores and other smeltable materials at the slowest rate of the standard furnaces, making it the usual starting point before upgrading to steel or electric furnaces.

Its per-furnace throughput is:

• Coal consumption: 0.0225/s
• Iron plate: 0.3125/s
• Copper plate: 0.3125/s
• Stone brick: 0.3125/s
• Steel plate: 0.0625/s

For comparison, both the steel furnace and the electric furnace process the listed materials at twice the stone furnace’s rate, with 0.625/s for iron, copper, and stone brick, and 0.125/s for steel. The stone furnace therefore trades speed for low cost, and remains useful early in the game or anywhere a simple, inexpensive smelting setup is sufficient.
