Elder

Overview
The Elder is the settler available by default at the start of the game. If the corresponding world creation option is enabled, the player will also spawn near his house. His house can be used as a base of operations: the player can use the Workstation and take items from the Chest, and a small room inside contains the Cave Ladder leading to the Caves.
The Elder is the main quest-giving settler and offers quests with unique rewards. Completed quest rewards can also be bought again in extra copies. He is the only settler that respawns after being killed. Unlike other settlers, he cannot perform any tasks, but this is not a problem because he stays happy and does not starve, so it is safe to keep him in a restricted area if desired.
- The Elder has a 10% chance to spawn with a special name chosen from Diligo, Haydex, Kamikaze, Subject, Vireyar, or Fair.
- The Elder’s house is immediately useful at the start of a world because it already contains a Workstation, a Chest, and access to the caves.
- If the Elder is killed, he will respawn on his own.
- The Elder turning into a Rock Caveling once per year is normal behavior.
